Notes

This is one of the water-colour drawings made by Georg Forster during James Cook's second voyage to the Pacific in 1772-1775.

The watercolour is listed by Sharpe 1906, p. 198 and by Lysaght 1959 p. 309 as Plate 163. This is the number written on the right-hand side of the watercolour. The NHM lists this watercolour as Plate 162.

John Latham based his description of the "Thorn-tailed warbler" on this picture by Forster.(Latham, 1783, p. 463).

The watercolour is dated 28 December 1774 at Tierra del Fuego.(Lysaght 1959, p. 309)
