| Description |
English: Fistulina hepatica fungus beneath an oak tree, Hollands Wood, New Forest A large fresh and sticky beefsteak fungus (Fistulina hepatica) - I've recently seen several of them, always growing at the base of oak trees. This specimen is about 25 cm across, with a very sticky coating on the upper surface. Underneath is white with pores. This part of the Forest is currently undergoing a 'no fungus picking' trial to see what difference it makes to fungus populations. |
