File:Filipino sword filipino dha baybayin script.JPG

Original file(2,048 × 1,536 pixels, file size: 1.51 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description
English: The above antique Filipino sword is unique.

Its form and size is very similar to that of the Thai and Burmese dha sword.

The photo of the entire sword is here.

Aside from the unique form factor, the other interesting thing about the sword is the presence of baybayin scripts on its scabbard. Baybayin is the ancient precolonial writing alphabet of Filipinos.

Up to now, certain ethnic people of the Philippines still use baybayin, like the mountain people of Mindoro Island. Given such, perhaps the sword originated therefrom.

Overall length: 715 mm (28.1 inches); Blade length: 428 mm (16.9 inches); Maximum blade thickness: 7 mm (1/4 inch); Scabbard length: 490 mm (19.3 inches)
