Representado de tres cuartos, muestra al monarca de frente ligeramente ladeado, mirando al espectador, mostrando el toisón de oro, la banda y cruz de la Orden de Carlos III y la gran Cruz Laureada de San Fernando. Se trata de una versión del retrato realizado por Vicente López en diversas ocasiones.
