File:Ewald construction for electron diffraction on a two-dimensional lattice, side view.svg

Summary

Description
English: Wave vector components parallel to the surface of the incoming (ki) and outcoming (kf) elastically diffracted electrons from a 2D lattice differ by the reciprocal lattice vector G(hk). Ewald construction shows which diffracted reflections are possible. For clarity, only half of the Ewald sphere is shown.
