Summary

Description
English: Before the image:

This figure of Eros (see illustration, page 35) is about three and one-half inches high and shows traces of coloring. The tip of the torch which is held in the left hand is red. The ends of the wings are pink with a broad vertical stripe of blue which extends to the body. The wreath of flowers on the head shows unmistakable traces of purple. Before the artist applied the brilliant and harmonious coloring, this little image had been dipped into the usual bath of whitewash to overcome the porosity of the clay.
