English: Collection of Curator Branch, Naval History and Heritage Command; Accession: 86-271-A; Medal of Honor, USN Type V; 23"L x 2"W. Medal was awarded to Elmer Charles Bigelow, Watertender 1st Class, 1945, for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity". Bigelow served on the USS Fletcher. The Type V medal was the first to use the cravat.
