Title
Scarab with Spread Wings
Description
English: Scarabs were modeled on the dung beetle (Scarabaeus sacer). The Egyptians associated these insects with the young sun-god Kheper, who, like the scarab, was believed to be self created. Images of winged scarabs were placed on the chest of the mummy to facilitate its rebirth in the afterworld.
