Summary

Description
English: Plot shows the temperature a black-body would need to be to emit a given amount of thermal radiation. This is sometimes referred to as the "effective temperature." The effective temperature is typically close to the actual temperature of the matter emitting the radiation. The temperature range includes temperatures commonly relevant to Earth's atmosphere. The curve simply follows from the Stefan-Boltzmann law, with emissivity taken to be 1.
