File:Eddington House Eddington Kent.jpg

Original file(3,316 × 2,124 pixels, file size: 1.16 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description

Postcard of Eddington House Junior School, Eddington near Herne Bay, Kent, England. Postmarked 1936, with a letter on the back dated July 1936. Eddington House was built around 1790 and demolished in 1968 for the development of Beaumanor housing estate.

Points of interest:

  • Most of the vegetation in front of the building is evergreen.
  • There are no leaves on the vine which covers the house, so it is late autumn or winter. However the upstairs windows are wide open, possibly indicating the tough attitude towards rigorous ventilation in boarding schools at that time.
