This particular diary is from 1855 and the page opened is dated 13 September 1855, Auckland, New Zealand. This is also around the time that Harriet and Thomas Gore-Browne first arrived in New Zealand. On this particular page Harriet talks about a visit to the Poor Knights and Bay of Islands. Within the diary’s pages are found mementos, cards and embroidery samples collected by Harriet. The diaries give insight into the day to day experiences and happenings in colonial New Zealand in the 19th Century.
