Description
Deutsch: Deze kaart uit 1920 'betreffende de herstellung der verwoeste streken' toont de afbakening van de zwaar getroffen “verwoeste gewesten” en de meest vernielde gebieden (in het donkergrijs) die de staat plande te onteigenen, met het oog op hun herstel. De wet op het herstel van de landbouw (15 november 1919) was enkel geldig binnen de afgebakende gebieden (verwoeste gewesten). Dit gebied, tussen de Noordzeekust en de Belgisch-Franse grens nabij Komen, besloeg zo’n 55.000 ha en situeerde zich volledig in de voormalige frontzone. De “verwoeste gewesten” bevatten met andere woorden het landbouwgebied dat tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog het meest was getroffen.
