In the period after the emergence of Islam on the beaches of Sumatra and Kalimantan there are ceremonial boats commonly referred to as boats "Lancang Kuning". Miniature boats like this play an important role in harvest ceremonies and sometimes the boats are used in offering ceremonies to the God. Sometimes dragon head is carved on the front of the boat as a representation of power that maintains human's safety.

Pada masa-masa setelah Islam awal di pantai-pantai Sumatera dan Kalimantan ada perahu-perahu upacara yang biasa disebut sebagai perahu "Lancang Kuning". Perahu-perahu miniatur semacam ini memegang peranan penting dalam upacara-upacara panen dan perahu-perahu kadang-kadang dipergunakan dalam upacara-upacara persembahan kepada dewa yang menguasai alam. Pada bagian depan perahu kadang-kadang dipahatkan kepala naga sebagai suatu kekuatan yang menjaga keselamatan manusia.
