Description
English: Air and sea assets of the multinational Maritime Interception Force shadow the Russian-flagged tanker Volgoneft-147 on Feb. 3, 2000. The Volgoneft-147 was boarded in international waters on Feb. 2 during interception operations conducted by the Ticonderoga class cruiser USS Monterey (CG-61). While operating under the authority of United Nations Security Council Resolution 665 the multinational Maritime Interception Force routinely intercepts and boards vessels suspected of carrying contraband.
