Object history
Deutsch: Die ältesten, seit dem Jahre 1289 belegten Siegel der Stadt zeigen einen linkshin aufgerichteten Löwen und oben rechts einen Stern. Bei dem Löwen, dessen Krone sich im ältesten Siegel noch nicht sicher erkennen lässt, dürfte es sich um die habsburgische Wappenfigur handeln, da Munderkingen vor 1297 in österreichischen Besitz gelangt ist. Der Stern erscheint auch in Siegeln anderer habsburgischer Städte als Beizeichen, so zum Beispiel in den Wappen von Aach, Landkreis Konstanz, Mengen, Scheer und Sigmaringen, Landkreis Sigmaringen. Nach Richtungswechseln des Löwen, Seiten- und Farbenwechseln des Sterns und zeitweiliger Zutat eines Dreibergs setzte sich die jetzige, vom Innenministerium am 21. Oktober 1957 bestätigte Gestalt und Tingierung des Wappens durch.
