Object history
Deutsch: In der Stadtordnung von 1367 bestimmte der damalige Stadtherr Graf Ulrich von Helfenstein, dass das Stadtsiegel sein Vollwappen enthalten soll. Nach dem 1396 erfolgten Verkauf Geislingens an die Reichsstadt Ulm blieb dieses Stadtsiegel noch einige Jahre im Gebrauch. 1422 ist erstmals der geteilte Ulmer Schild in einem Geislinger Siegel nachweisbar. Dieser schlecht erhaltene Siegelabdruck lässt nicht sicher erkennen, ob der Ulmer Schild schon damals — wie in allen späteren Geislinger Siegeln und Wappen — mit dem unterscheidenden Beizeichen der Rose belegt war. Als Stadtfarben werden in einem Schützenbuch von 1557 die Farben Schwarz-Weiß genannt.
