Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde liegt auf der Hochfläche zwischen dem oberen Nagold- und dem Waldachtal an der Grenze zwischen Schwarzwald und Heckengäu. Im Osten der Gemarkung markiert der Stufenrand des Muschelkalks die Landschaftsgrenze. Hier bewahrt das Landschaftsschutzgebiet Kapf die charakteristische Flora des Heckengäus, zu der auch die Silberdistel gehört. Diese Pflanze wurde daher als Bild für das Wappen gewählt, das der Gemeinde zusammen mit der Flagge am 10. April 1969 vom Innenministerium verliehen wurde. Das Motiv ist ein ansprechendes und werbewirksames heraldisches Zeichen für die Gemeinde, die das Prädikat „Erholungsort" trägt und in der der Fremdenverkehr eine nicht unwesentliche wirtschaftliche Rolle spielt. Zuvor enthielten die Gemeindesiegel einen Wappenschild mit zwei gekreuzten Schlüsseln, deren Bedeutung nicht bekannt ist.
