Object history
Deutsch: Der Rumpf eines Elefanten, des Wappentiers der Grafen von Helfenstein, die den Ort bis zu ihrem Aussterben im Jahr 1627 besessen haben, und der sechsstrahlige Stern — wohl ein unterscheidendes Beizeichen - erschienen bereits in dem seit 1551 belegten Gerichtssiegel des Markts Deggingen. Im Jahre 1954 wurde am Rathaus ein Steinrelief angebracht, das eine Verbindung des helfensteinischen Wappens mit dem des Ortsadels zeigt. Auf Antrag der Gemeinde hat das Innenministerium jedoch am 30. Juni 1959 deren ursprüngliches, nun in den helfensteinischen Farben Rot und Silber festgelegtes Wappen samt der Flagge verliehen.
