Avería del buque chileno Abtao: El 28 de agosto de 1879 la corbeta Abtao combatió con el Huáscar en la rada de Antofagasta. La imagen muestra los daños que sufrió la embarcación chilena en el palo mayor y la cubierta, luego de recibir un proyectil que le lanzó el monitor peruano. Destrozos causados en la corbeta Abtao por un proyectil del blindado peruano Huáscar durante el combate de Antofagasta del 28 de agosto de 1879. Siguiendo el parte oficial del comandante del buque chileno, capitán de fragata Aureliano Sánchez Alvaradejo, los daños de la imagen corresponden al impacto de un segundo proyectil, que penetró por la banda de estribor, atravesando el palo mayor de parte a parte y explotó en el combés, por babor, destrozando parte de la cubierta y matando a cuatro tripulantes e hiriendo a cinco de gravedad.
