DescriptionCorbelled House on Grootfontein Farm, off the R63 detail of stepping stones to roof.JPG
English: walls were built straight up to about 2 metres in height and then gradually the stones formed rings that overlapped inwards, narrowing until the small hole at the top was sealed by a single stone. This dome was typically up to 7 metres high, and to avoid the use of scaffolding when repairs were needed, these stones were left jutting out to form stepping stones.
