English: First Adm. Dato Seri Pahlawan Abd Aziz Hj Mohd Tamit, joint force commander at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Capt. Michael Taylor, Chief of Staff for Commander, Task Force 73 walk along the pier before the closing ceremony of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Brunei 2012. USS Reuben James (FFG 57) is moored in the background. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, and Timor Leste. CARAT Brunei has been part of the series since it began in 1995. The overarching goal of CARAT Brunei 2012 is to enhance regional capabilities and cooperation, promote understanding, and improve interoperability and readiness of participating forces.
