Description
Nederlands: Congres Team 10 in Otterlo, 1959. (Fotograaf onbekend)

Collectie NAi, TTEN

Translation of the Dutch commentary: In 1959 the Netherlands was the stage of world history, when a small group of young architects dispensed with the prestigious Congrès Internationaux d’Architecture Moderne (CIAM). This new generation found the rational approach of CIAM adherents overly one-sided. With J.B. Bakema as chairman, this small international vanguard championed a humane architecture. In Otterlo the group formulated a new, influential ideology that takes human relations as the basis for architecture and urban planning. In Otterlo, the Team 10 ‘dwarf’ dealt the fatal blow to the CIAM ‘giant’.
