Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) This photo shows the use of 9-up page layout used by the Compact edition of the dictionary to compress the 20-volume original work into a single volume. Nine individual pages in the original dictionary were compressed in size and arranged in a 3-by-3 grid when composited into the final page.

This is one of the exemplar uses of N-up printing in a mass produced and published book, and certainly one of the extreme examples of the compression possible by using the N-up printing technique.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) The resolution of the image is such that none of the text of the pages, excluding the simple headwords at the top of the page, are not legible. The only legible aspect remaining is the 9-by-9 grid layout and the 3-column layout used within each page.
