Summary

Description
English: A short monophthong chart of cockney.
Date
Source

Own work, based on the vowel charts in Beaken, Michael Alan (1971) A study of phonological development in a primary school population of East London (Doctoral thesis)[1], UCL, page 193. The main allophones marked on the vowel chart are the first allophones listed on page 189. They are not marked on the original charts. The schwa /ə/ is the word-internal variety; the word-final variety often overlaps with /a/ or even /æ/, which do not occur word-finally.
