Español: El escudo de la provincia de Ilo fue creada por Emiliano Rojas Cáceres que presentó al Concejo Provincial de Ilo el diseño del escudo a colores, el 26 de mayo de 1976 la alcaldía le otorgó un diploma de honor en su reconocimiento por la creación e inspiración artística del escudo.

Las características que le dio el autor del escudo de Ilo son:

«Un banderín recordatorio, con alegoría de un Escudo con motivos de la provincia de Ilo, como son el marco, el molde de cobre, en la parte superior un sol naciente, en el interior una franja roja con un pelícano; en la parte inferior del escudo, el mar, un buque, y el muelle; en el fondo una vista de los hornos de La Fundición de la compañía Southern Perú, y como adorno rodeado del escudo, dos ramas de olivo con sus respectivos frutos, en la parte baja para llenar el vacío una ancla, un casco marino y una red de pesca. El mencionado banderín fue repartido en forma gratuita en la sesión solemne del Concejo en su primer aniversario.»

El Municipio Ileño, respetando la interpretación artística del autor, cambió la ubicación del ancla, el casco minero y la red de pesca colocándolos en el ángulo superior izquierdo, suprimiendo el pelícano.

The Ileño Municipality, respecting the artistic interpretation of the author, changed the location of the anchor, the mining helmet and the fishing net, placing them in the upper left corner, eliminating the pelican.
