Clarkia imbricata—Vine Hill clarkia. The species is included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.1 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). It is also listed by the State of California as Endangered and by the Federal Government as 'Endangered '. To quote the CNPS Inventory entry : " Known from only two extant occurrences, one of which is introduced; a third, natural occurrence has been extirpated." Threatened by development and road maintenance." Nearly every photo I've seen depicts ta painterly quality for these plants. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
