Description
English: Knights of Christ wearing the gala costumes of the order in Brazil. Crosses of the order are also seen in the margin of the illustration. This order was the most traditional Luso-Brazilian order of knighthood. The order originated in the Portuguese Order of Christ founded by Pope John XXII and King Denis of Portugal in 1318. Today the order is still conferred by the Pope and the Portuguese Republic, but no longer by Brazil. In Brazil the order was known as the "Imperial Ordem de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo".

According to Brazilian copyright law (Law 9.610 of February 19, 1998; see translation):

  • Article 45: In addition to the works in respect of which the protection of the economic rights has expired, the following shall pass into the public domain:
    • I. the works of authors deceased without heir;
    • II. the works of unknown authors, subject to the legal protection of ethnic and traditional lore.
  • Article 96: The term of protection of neighboring rights shall be 70 years from the first of January of the year following fixation for phonograms, transmission for the broadcasts of broadcasting organizations and public performance in other cases.
