Description

550 million year old fossil - a cast of Charniodiscus from Australia in the Sedgwick Museum in Cambridge. Charniodiscus also been discovered in Canada, S Africa, Australia.........Named from Charnwood Forest Leicestershire.

This was discovered in the Flinders Range in Australia by Jim Gehling, and it was later stolen by fossil looters and turned up in Japan. Fortunately the Japanese government re-patriated the specimen and it is now in a museum in Australia!
