Deutsch: Die Zuckmücken (Chironomidae) sind eine artenreiche und häufig anzutreffende Familie der Zweiflügler (Diptera) und gehören zu den Mücken (Nematocera). Sie kommen oft in Massen vor. Sie sind leicht mit Büschelmücken (Chaoboridae) zuverwechseln, jedoch haben Zuckmücken 6-8 Flügeladern, die den Rand erreichen, während es bei den Büschelmücken mindestens 10 sind.
English: Chironomidae are closely related to the Corethrellidae and Chaoboridae, the adults are differentiated through peculiarities in wing venation: 6-8 in Chironomidae and at least 10 in Chaoboridae. Commonly known as non-biting midges, this is a family with a cosmopolitan distribution. Often they occour in masses.
