Nederlands: Negatief. Deze twee vrouwen zijn bezig met de vroege stadia van het weefproces: het maken van rollen (rolags) katoen, en het spinnen.
De rollen worden gemaakt door de vrouw links op de foto. Zij gebruikt katoen die al ontpit is en waarvan de vezels al door de boog zijn los gemaakt (afbeelding 1001 4413). In haar linkerhand houdt zij een smal stuk bamboe of hout en rolt de katoen er omheen. Zij rolt de katoen op een platte steen. De klaargemaakte rollen worden van het stokje gehaald. Vier ervan liggen voor de spinster op de mat. De vrouw rechts gebruikt de rollen bij het spinnen. Zij heeft er eentje in haar linkerhand en spint het met het snel draaiende spinstokje in het spinnewiel. Met haar rechterhand draait ze het wiel om het spinstokje te laten draaien. Duidelijk te zien op deze afbeelding is dat bij het spannen van de schering op de scheringtoestel, achter de vrouwen op de voorgrond, drie mandjes worden gebruikt. The rolls are made by the woman on the left in the photo. She uses cotton that has already been pitted and whose fibers have already been loosened by the bow (image 1001 4413). In her left hand she holds a narrow piece of bamboo or wood and rolls the cotton around it. She rolls the cotton on a flat stone. The ready rolls are removed from the skewer. Four of them are on the mat in front of the spinster. The woman on the right uses the reels while spinning. She holds one in her left hand and spins it into the spinning wheel with the fast spinning spinning stick. With her right hand she turns the wheel to spin the spinning stick.
