Zentralbild Schaar 27.12.1962 Springer-Auftakt mit Sieg des Weltmeisters Recknagel
Die Springer-Saison der DDR begann am zweiten Weihnachtsfeiertag (26.12.62) auf der Thüringen-Schanze in Oberhof mit einem Sieg des Weltmeisters. Helmut Recknagel steigerte sich von Sprung zu Sprung und konnte mit einem prächtigen 73,5-m-Satz im dritten Durchgang seinen bis dahin an Weite überlegenen Klubkameraden Veit Kührt (Sc Motor Zella-Mehlis) noch auf den zweiten Platz verweisen. Recknagels 73,5 m, mit verkürztem Anlauf gesprungen, bedeuteten zugleich größte Weite des Tages.
UBz: Veit Kührt (hier beim Sprung) war Recknagels stärkster Konkurrent. Kührt sprang 68, 71 und 67 Meter und erreichte die Note 224,35.
