Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Taxi Driver (Alexander McQueen collection) |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The bumster was a major design that debuted in Taxi Driver. Even though this garment is not from that collection, the image illustrates the visual appearance of one of the most significant looks from the collection to the reader for identification and educational purposes. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
1) The entire collection, including any original bumsters, was lost immediately following the show. No photo of the original bumsters exists.
2) The bumster is a silhouette unique to McQueen in his early years - other low-rise jeans simply aren't cut to show the intergluteal cleft to the same extreme degree. Any duplicate would be an obviously inferior knock-off, and using a photograph of one would be misleading to the reader. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This file will only be used in this article, and at a lower resolution than the original. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
1) McQueen's original bumsters are not commercially available, so a photo that demonstrates the silhouette can't harm the McQueen label's ability to profit from the design. Even if they were being sold, a simple photo can't replace the actual garment.
2) This photo is a small low-quality copy of the much higher-quality original. The exhibition for which the photo was taken was staged in 2011, so the use of this image cannot affect ticket sales or sales of the catalogue (which is a 300+ page book with numerous other photos). |
