Chinese name: 别克凯越 (biékè kǎiyuè)
Year of launch: 2003
2003 saw the premiere of one of the most successful cars on the Chinese market ever: the Buick Excelle. It is a badge-engineered Daewoo Lacetti/Nubira II and came as a sedan, wagon and hatchback (Excelle HRV). In 2008 it was heavily revamped, receiving an all-new front end and rear end and new interior. It is quite interesting GM didn't adapt the Taiwanese design of the Excelle, but chose to design yet another variation on the Lacetti-theme. Apparently GM's Chinese joint venture partner, SAIC, rejected the design of the Taiwanese version.
