English: Brownsea Island: well cum gravestone. This well forms a rather ornate gravestone. The rectangular plaque states:

Beneath this spot rests the body of the Right Honourable George Augustus Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck, of Her Majesty's Privy Council and a Member of Parliament in which he sat for 31 consecutive years. Born July 9 1821, died April 9 1891 Only son of Major General Lord Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck and grandson of William Henry third Duke of Portland.

The circular plaque below it is in memory of Prudence Penelope, widow of the above.

On the back of the rectangular plaque, the following is stated:

This ancient well head or 'pozzo', which surmounts the grave of the late Right Honourable George Augustus Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck — brought by him from Italy as a monument of sixteenth century art revival — has been placed here in his memory by his widow and children.
