| Description |
English: An improvised boat for crossing rivers made from a rawhide. Their use was commonplace in Brazil and Spanish South America. Painted by Jean-Baptiste Debret and published in his Voyage Pittoresque et Historique au Brésil, ou Séjour d'un Artiste Français au Brésil. Debret like other European artists could not appreciate that these boats did not require internal bracing, and has depicted it as if it did. |
