Français : C'est un petit arbre atteignant 5 à 15 m de hauteur. Il fleurit en saison sèche, avant l'apparition des feuilles. Le calice de la fleur est utilisé dans la cuisine pas la population locale autour du parc pendjari dans la confection de sauces très gluante; épaisses avec un goût particulier et une texture.
Mais la récolte excessive des fleurs peut être problématique pour le renouvellement de l'espèce, en empêchant la formation de graines. Donc il va falloir une exploitation rationnelle de la ressource.
English: A small tree reaching 5 to 15 m in height. It flowers in the dry season, before the leaves appear. The calyx of the flower is used in the kitchen by the local people around the Pendjari Park in making very sticky (glutinous) sauces; thick with a particular taste and texture. But the excessive harvesting of flowers can be problematic for the renewal of the species, by preventing the formation of seeds. A rational approach to sustainable exploitation of the resource is needed. |
