English: This ORIHON, or traditional accordion book in Japan, is one of my collection. Publication of year is unknown, but obviously used by buddhist priests in Edo era. The size is 28cm tall. They wrote KANA letters on either side of each KANJI character; HIRAGANA letters written along right side of KANJI shows how to read it on ONYOMI or Chinese-derived character reading, and KATAKANA letters and marks written in left side shows how to read them on KANBUN-KUNDOKU or traditional translating system for reading classical Chinese as if it were old Japanese language. I reliesed this photo as public domain, please use this freely.
