Description
Woodcut of a court ballet performed at the Tuileries Palace, Paris, in 1573 in honour of Polish envoys visiting to present the throne of Poland to Catherine de' Medici's son Henry, Duke of Anjou, the future Henry III of France. Sixteen court ladies, each representing a province of France, are here arranged in a figure. Among the dancers was Marguerite de Valois, Catherine's daughter.
