English: Babiana ringens ssp. ringens, photgraphed by Tiony Rebelo, on 11 September 2011, in the centre of the Riverlands Nature Reserve, about 10 km west of Malmesbury, Western Cape province of South Africa
According to the photographed, the rats tail is a modified flower stalk adapted as a bird perch: the bird feeds downwards from the perch. The leaves are surprisingly hard and woody.
