Notes The comparison of this portrait with the engraving of P. de Jode (cf: National Library, cabinet of prints, Cc.51.fº42) proves that this is indeed the portrait of François Frank the Younger. There is another drawing preserved in Weimar (cl. Braun nº79619) which bears the stamp of the T. Lawrence collection (see Smith A catalog raisonné of the works eminent Dutch, flemish, .... London, 1831, nº762) under this same number, Smith points out a grisaille that would have been used for the engraving. Carnavalet's drawing presents differences with the engraving, in particular in the drapery. [1]
