Notes Van Dyck’s early drawings display his closeness to the style of his teacher, Rubens. This is apparent in the present drawing that depicts the Bacchanal of Silenus. It derives inspiration from Rubens’ depiction of the same subject now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (inv. 319) as observable in the swirling movement of bodies and the gesture of the satyr [1]
