Summary

Description
English: An uncommon fly - Rachicerus fulvicollis, Julie Metz Wetlands, Woodbridge, Virginia. This is only the second Awl Fly (family Xylophagidae) I've ever seen. I was sure it was a fly based on the halteres, but the antennae confused me. Bugguide came to the rescue with an ID, and I now also know that this type of antenna is "pectinate".
