Summary

Description
English: Agamemnon was a pioneering long-distance merchant steamship, built to trade between the UK and the Far East. She had a compound engine and ran at a higher boiler pressure than had previously been allowed by the Board of Trade. Ships of this sort of design rapidly replaced the clippers that had operated in the tea trade from China.
