Sir Charles Ogle, 2nd Baronet (1775-1858) entered the British Navy in 1787 and was Commander-in-Chief in North America from 1827 to 1830, and then Portsmouth from 1845 to 1858. He was made Vice-Admiral in 1830, Admiral in 1841 and Admiral of the Fleet in 1857. There is one other known miniature of him by Cornelius Durham dated 1846 that is almost identical to this portrait. / Charles Ogle (1775-1858) s'engagea dans la marine britannique en 1787 et fut commandant en chef en Amérique du Nord de 1827 à 1830, puis à Portsmouth de 1845 à 1858. Il fut nommé vice-amiral en 1830, amiral en 1841 et amiral de la flotte en 1857.
