The 10th Carvair conversion, G-ASKG was formerly the Interocean C-54A LX-BBP, traded-in against Interocean’s Carvair purchases. It was handed-over to British United Air Ferries at Southend in Aug 1963, named ‘Channel bridge’, but left almost immediately on a wet-lease to Italian operator Alisud, for its new Naples-Palermo car-ferry service. It retained the basic BUAF livery, but with green Alisud title/logo replacing that of BUA on the nose. The lease ended in Feb 1964 and no Carvair orders were forthcoming, so G-ASKG rejoined the BUAF fleet, again as ‘Channel Bridge’. I photographed it outside the Aviation traders flight shed at Southend in Mar 1964. For details of its later service, see my other photos of G-ASKG
