Radio Receiver, Neutrodyne NR-5
1923
Radio used on the Presidential Yacht USS Mayflower. The Neutrodyne design greatly improved reception, it provided good signal gain and eliminated oscillation noises. The design was the product of naval research and professor Louis Hazeltine's work as a consultant at the Washington Navy Yard Radio Test Shop. The five-tube radio was assembled by Freed-Eisemann company in Brooklyn (logo barely visible in the center of front panel) [1].
