Summary

Description
English: This work was executed after Mahmoud Hammad returned to Damascus from Rome where he was sent on scholarship to study art. This work clearly illustrates his move towards abstraction and away from his earlier impressionistic landscapes and academic figurative style. He eventually became one of the founders of the abstract art movement in Syria based on Arabic calligraphy.
