• Shield: Azure, a fess dancetty to chief and wavy to base Argent, overall a pine tree Proper.

• Crest:

1. That for regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve: On a wreath of the colors (Argent and Azure) the Lexington Minute Man Proper.
2. The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the Common in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Symbolism:

• Shield:

1. The blue shield is representative of Infantry.
2. The white saw-tooth fess alludes to the mountains of Washington and the lower wavy line of the fess indicates the waters of the Pacific.
3. The pine tree is emblematic of western Washington, the home area of the original unit in 1922.

• Crest: The crest is that of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Background:

1. The coat of arms was originally approved for the 383rd Infantry Regiment on 1925-10-25.
2. It was amended to withdraw the Army Reserve crest on 1959-09-24.
3. It was amended to reinstate the crest of the Army Reserve and revise the symbolism of the design on 1970-08-07.
4. The insignia was redesignated for the 383rd Regiment (Training) with blazon and symbolism revised on 1993-10-28.
