English: View of the wall between the small crypt and the crypt of Saint Servatius in the Basilica of Saint Servatius in Maastricht, Netherlands. The text on the wall is in Dutch and French. The pilgrim's staff of Saint Servatius next to it is a copy of the original in the church treasury.
Normally, the small crypt cannot be accessed but at this special occasion, the 2018 Heiligdomsvaart (Relics Pilgrimage), it is open for pilgrims to visit. The history of the Heiligdomsvaart goes back to the Middle Ages. The first 'modern' version of this seven-yearly, ten-day catholic pilgrimage took place in 1874. The 2018 Heiligdomsvaart was the 55th modern edition.
