When the Mar 31/84 stickered Alberta license plates expired the new red and blue on white plates were not yet ready for issue due to manufacturing delays. If fees were paid, owner was given the black on yellow sticker dated JUN 30/84, which would remain until the new plates were issued. These new plates were issued before June 30, 1984.
The new system called staggered registration would use a monthly registration based on the registrants last name. Fees were based accordingly, Some would get an OCT month sticker along with an 84 year sticker, some would get a SEPT month sticker along with an 85 year sticker.
This JUN 30/84 would be the second sticker with an "84" date.
This particular plate was issued after March 31/84 and before June 30/84. A natural issue from the transition period.
NOTE: The vowel "E" was issued in the first position as the series was being used up. "Q" had been issued in the first position before the "E" series were issued.
